Lesson Plan: Our Thinking Community

Great Thinker's Challenge:

Explore questions that don’t lend themselves to “yes” or “no” answers. Examine how one question can generate many different points of view. Discuss the importance of building a “Thinking Community” in which many different answers are given consideration.

Learning Objectives:

  • (Literacy) Report on topics or a text, tell a story, or recount an experience with appropriate facts, and relevant descriptive details.

  • (Literacy) Support a point of view using relevant reasons and information.

  • (Literacy) Write effective questions to collect information or data.

  • (Social-Emotional Learning) Consider and appreciate a variety of viewpoints.

Materials/Preparation:

  • Pen and paper
