Lesson Plan: Extremely Cool Questions

Great Thinker's Challenge:

How do you tackle a big question, especially if it’s one with many different answers? Work together to analyze a challenging, but fascinating philosophical question, and come up with a variety of different answers.

Learning Objectives:

  • (Literacy) Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions.

  • (Literacy) Explain one’s own ideas and understanding using appropriate vocabulary and language conventions.

  • (Social-Emotional Learning) Explore and appreciate a variety of different perspectives.

  • (Visual Art) Create a three-dimensional model representing an idea.

Materials/Preparation:

  • Extremely Cool Questions worksheet

  • Popsicle sticks, coloured paper, plasticine, sticky tape or glue

Grade Range: 2-5
