Great Thinker's Challenge:

Get to know a great thinker, as well as the place and time in which they lived. Consider why they asked the questions that they did and think about the kinds of questions that would have been important to people at that time. Make connections to the questions that people are asking now.

Learning Objectives:

  • (Social Studies) Formulate questions and make observations about daily life and practices in a historical culture.

  • (Social Studies) Make personal connections to the life and perspective of people in the past.

  • (Literacy) Use non-fiction and fiction pieces such as stories, poetry, and songs to gather information.

  • (Drama) Create and present information about the life and work of historical figures in a dramatic presentation.

Materials/Preparation:

  • Famous Minds in Time worksheet

  • Research materials (online, print, music, artwork, film)
