Monstrously Cool Big Questions For Halloween

Spooky season is at hand, and like most holidays, it’s a wonderful opportunity to build some thinking skills and have some fun with big questions. While you’re decorating, putting together costumes, and stocking up on treats, why not throw a few brilliant discussions into the mix?

Here are some questions to get things going:

  1. Which candy do you think is delicious, and which candy do you think is disgusting? What’s the difference? Is it in the candy itself, or the person who is eating it?

  2. When dividing up your goodies after trick-or-treating, how do you make sure everyone gets an amount that’s fair? Should some people get more than others, or should everyone get exactly the same?

  3. When you put on a costume, do you become a different person? Does what we wear and how we look change who we are?

  4. If a monster sat down beside you for a bit of candy, and wanted to ask a few questions, what do you think they would want to know? What would you tell them?

  5. What makes something scary? Can something be scary one day, and not so scary the next? What changes? Do different people find different things scary?

Cheers to the fun, the treats, the camaraderie and the creativity of Halloween! May it inspire all kinds of big ideas with your wee thinker!
