Lesson Plan: What’s A Bot To Do?

Great Thinker's Challenge:

Distinguish between robots' abilities, and their uses. Think critically about the value of work done by robots, as well as the positive and negative impact this work has on daily life. Compile a list of guidelines for the creators of robots.

Learning Objectives:

• (Science) Explore the role of technology in one’s community and one’s culture.

• (Literacy) Form and express an argument with supporting evidence.

• (Social-Emotional Learning) Discuss moral questions and evaluate potential solutions.

Materials/Preparation:

• What's A Bot To Do? worksheet

• Print and internet resources detailing many types of work that can be done by robots

• Chart paper, pen
