Lesson Plan: Critters To Consider
Great Thinker’s Challenge:
Explore the ways in which non-human creatures react to the world around them, and then reflect on how humans react (or should react) in similar situations. Find empathy for and understanding of other beings who share our world, and dig deeper into what makes a human being think and act the way they do.
Learning Objectives:
Use role-play to explore what certain situations feel like, both from a human and a non-human perspective. (Drama)
Compare human and non-human behaviour and environment. (Science)
Use simple research strategies to find basic information. (Literacy)
Demonstrate empathy by considering how animals and people feel in challenging situations. (Social-Emotional Learning)

Critters To Consider worksheet and printable cards (cut out in advance)
Books, videos, or online resources with information about animal behaviours
